Plein Air Paintings With Their Stories

Here are a few plein air paintings that I have done over the past year:

"Spotted Light"
Watercolor on hot pressed watercolor paper
This painting was painted from the top of Rattlesnake Mountain in Holderness NH.
I was finishing it as a storm was coming in.
"Cherry Pond"
Watercolor on cold pressed watercolor paper
This watercolor was painted along side Cherry Pond on a late fall day.
The water in my palette kept freezing while I was working.

"Portland Light House"
Watercolor on hot pressed watercolor paper
This was painted in late March of this year.
"Big Squam"
Oils on Canvas
This piece was also painted from the top of Rattlesnake Mountain in Holderness.
It was painted on a very calm summer day.

"Crawford In May"
Oils on canvas
Early May is a great time to hike in the white mountains.
Everything is bright green and there are not to many bugs yet!

"New England Charm"
Watercolors on cold pressed watercolor paper
I have always admired this house when driving by.
I met another artist friend here last fall to have
a painting session together.

"Vermont Railtrail Barn"
Watercolor on cold pressed watercolor paper
This is from a watercolor journal that I kept while
on an adventure with my mom.

"Doublehead View"
Watercolor on hot pressed watercolor paper
This watercolor was painted in February of this year.
My mom and I stayed overnight at the Doublehead cabin.
I painted this by headlamp with my paint palette in front of the
wood stove so that it would not freeze! We got the temp inside the
cabin up to 34 degrees from 29 degrees by hanging some space blankets! We had
a great time!

"Portland Head Light"
Oils on panel
This was painted last spring from my favorite bench along the shore
path at Fort Williams.
